Three TSA agents test positive for coronavirus as number of infected in US tops 1,000

Three TSA agents in California’s bay area have tested positive for coronavirus — as the total number infected in the United States reached more than 1,000.

The officers, who were assigned to San Jose International Airport, are receiving medical care and other employees they were in contact with have been asked to quarantine at their homes, the TSA said Tuesday night.

“Screening checkpoints remain open and the agency is working with the CDC, as well as the California Department of Public Health and the Santa Clara County Public Health Department to monitor the situation,” the agency said in the statement.

The news comes as the number of those who have tested positive for the virus in the US shot up to more than 1,000.

Three people in California have died of the virus since the outbreak reached the States in January.

The third person to die in the state was a nursing home resident in their 90s who had an underlying health condition but died of complications from the virus, NBC News reported.
